As women, we are raised to deny our own needs or to sacrifice our needs for others. When we affirm our very right to have needs and strive to meet our own needs, we are being told that our needs must be secondary to the needs of others, even to those who largely have no respect for our needs. When we affirm our right to our intimate and sacred spaces we are now called bigots.
